How Far In Advance Should I Book My Photographer? - Wedding Photography QT
The answer to 'how far in advance should I book my wedding photographer?' is simple -
as soon as you can.
There's one key detail that needs to be tied down before you can book your photographer - your wedding date.
Don't let that stop you from searching though - websites, listings, Facebook pages, Instagram, Pinterest - the world's your lobster! (sorry!)
Get inspired about what's out there and what you love, then when you have your date set in stone you'll be able to hit the ground running.
It's a good idea to book a photographer as soon as you have your date booked with your venue because so many couples plan in far ahead that photographers get booked up and year or two in advance.
That said, don't be put off from contacting your favourite photographer just because you're planning your wedding in a shorter-than-average space of time.
Some of my favourite weddings are elopements, impromptu weddings and intimate marriages and I've been very happy to photograph for couples who contacted me for weddings happening just a couple of weeks later;
one of the liberating aspects of our natural, relaxed photography is that we don't need to plan a long list of posed shots and group photographs; so impromptu and short-notice weddings are just perfect to us.
If you're worried that your photographer of choice won't be available, get in touch quickly so that you have a clear yes or no.
Many photographers won't book weddings over 2 or 3 years in advance, but as with short notice weddings, don't let that put you off reaching out to your favourite photographer/s, chat about what you'd like, formulate the basis of your relationship with your potential wedding photographer, get to know them a little and get excited!
